While there are parts in the film camera which is similar to a digital still camera, the technology between the both is far from each other. The obvious similarity include the lens, which allows for light to pass through thus creating photographs. But it ends there. The film camera’s medium is the film, which captures the light. The digital camera’s medium is the sensor which allows for the display of the pictures.
The technology behind film cameras are simple: you allow the light to pass through the shutter of the lens, making an impression on the light-sensitive film. Film is to be developed thus producing pictures on print. Digital cameras are entirely different things. You have sensors, LCDs, lenses, and other technologies which makes cameras more sophisticated than before. Now, seeing as there are two main types of digital cameras (the point&shoot and the Digital Single Lens Reflex) both of which have different technologies and make, the technology when it comes to making digital cameras are more advanced and, perhaps even, more diverse.
With the advent of more technological developments, it is but expected that more digital camera parts are to be invented, thus require understanding for future repairs. Different digital camera parts demand for different types of technologies as these different digital camera parts perform different tasks in the digital camera.
